The other day I came across a program for iPhone called Rev Lite. After purchasing a OBD WLAN Device you can wirelessly access info from your ecu such as TPS %, fuel trims, temps, advance, o2 readings, etc. etc. Here is the website: Rev

My question is has anyone here used this program and would it be an accurate tuning tool? If so I would rather buy an iPhone than deal with other tuning devices....Try it out and tell me what you think!

Well it just appears to be a fancy, non-vehicle specific data logger, NOT a tuning device. It states that the device is for OBD-II cars, not OBD-I cars and personally I'd just spend $60 on a datalogger that will work with the car and $110 for a S-AFC and be under the price for an iPhone, with the added capabilites of tuning the car.

It's not a tuning device, it's a monitoring device.

The most interesting thing I found though was the OBD-II/WLAN. I have been pondering a way to connect DSMLink via WIFI or Bluetooth to get rid of the wire showing when tuning. Just pack it all up under the dash and have it send wireless. Wireless tuning would be awesome :D.

Depending on how informational this program is when its finally released.

Ill spend <30 bucks on it to have a logger everytime Im in my car and dont have the laptop.

CEL's knock timing etc is good stuff to know.

Update! I was pretty much set on buying this but im reconsidering.
49.99 for software for iphone
229.00 for wireless adapter

DevToaster is pleased to announce that we are now shipping our new OBD-
II WiFi hardware module!

We here at DevToaster have been working around the clock to bring our
customers a quality product, and we think you'll find the wait has
been worth it. The ElmCanII-WLAN is a complete OBD-II/802.11 solution,
supporting all the common vehicle protocols and two flavors of 802.11
wireless technology (b and g). It's easy to setup, is powered by the
OBD-II port alone, and tucks away nicely almost anywhere in your
vehicle.

For customers in the United States and Canada, the ElmCanII-WLAN will
sell directly from DevToaster for US$229. The Rev software will be
shipping in November (pending Apple's approval time) and will sell for
US$49.99 on the iTunes App Store. Order the hardware now so you can
start using Rev the day it appears on the App Store!

All of the details about the hardware (and exciting new news about the
upcoming Rev release) are available on the Rev web site:

We're very excited to release Rev and we can't wait to see it in your
hands. As usual, feel free to e-mail us with any questions. Stay tuned
to the mailing list or news page for all the latest updates!

The DevToaster Team

Having a 1G this wasn't exactly an option for me in the first place but that's quite a bit of cash. Neat, no doubt, but it really can't do that much.

It's related to Apple. Of course it costs too goddamned much.

My first thought was "if it hooks to an iPhone, it can't be cheap" damn mad crap LOL

Anyway, for that price get a TMO logger and an SAFC if it's 1g.. or get another (cheaper) obd-II program if it's for a 2g and still get an SAFC and be under that price (not even counting the phone)

I'll admit, that is cool as hell, but for 250 bucks i can deal with a wire that comes out of the ashtray and easily tucks out of sight when parking.

I'm digging up this thread because it's kind of similar to what I'm looking at. So here's the setup:

1. Already own iPhone, Palm, Laptop with USB and serial
2. I need to purchase a boost gauge
3. I need a logger
4. I eventually will want to either purchase a 98/99 ecu and tune via evoscan/ecuflash or purchase DSMlink in the future
5. I will need to purchase a wideband 02 at some point
6. Ultimate goals will eventually be 350-400HP after building up the engine properly

So, I figure for the cost of a good gauge, wb 02, and logger, I'm going to be in the for:
gauge = >$60
wb02 = >$200
logger (just need cable) = >$20
software = >$20

Total = more than $300

Now the purpose of this thread; I found PLX Kiwi Wifi - Connect your iPhone / iPod Touch to your car's OBD2 OBDII Port.
which creates a wifi connection from your OBD2 plus has a logger for $250. It also has it's own wb02 for $200 and it's own boost for $100. I guess for $550 I have what I want plus I can connect my iphone for another $40 or a laptop and evoscan. I'm sure that Thomas Dorris has this on his radar and may support DSMlink on a laptop via wifi in the future. Between the massive amount of sensors and the ability to scale to any application, this seems to be a good choice. I'd like some opinions from people. They claim they can daisy chain up to 32 devices and they all will run at 10hz. Ultimate question:

Is it worth spending $250 on a wifi adapter/logger for OBD2 that may open up a lot of fun avenues in the future but has semi-costly and unknown sensors?

Here's what I'm running, just for cost comparison...

Glowshift boost gauge - $30 new - tested pretty accurate using the gauges on my air compressor
Innovate LC-1 - $99 used - included 2 wbo2 sensors (1 new) and the blue db gauge (it broke don't need it but- $45 to fix)
Openport 1.3U cable - $100 new
Evoscan - $20 with cable purchase
Ecuflash - free
Evo 8 Ecu - $125 shipped (sold old ecu for $75)
Already had laptop for school.

So for $300 I have everything I need to tune.
Is it really that hard to plug 2 usb cables into your laptop?

Maybe you should look into a carPC.
