North Gower,
Hey folks,

I've searched the archives but haven't found out how to fix the Barometric Pressure Sensor code 25 I'm getting in a friend's 1990 Laser RS Turbo. The car sat all winter in need of an intake valve repair, which is now done (along with the timing and balance shaft belts and oil leak fixes). It did not have the code before the repair.

It starts and runs good (although blows some continuous blue smoke after the car warms up), compression is in the 150 range on all four cylinders, and all the vacuum lines and electrical connections are hooked back up right (I think) and checked for leaks.

The CEL goes off with the key and only comes back on after a few minutes of running the car. I haven't found a consistent pattern to the CEL appearance, nor have I been able to find a loose wire or corroded connection.

What causes this sensor to go bad? Where is it located specifically? What's the best and cheapest way to repair it? Does it affect the emission controls in the engine management?

Any qualified and educated help would be appreciated. e-mail me at [email protected] if you have any specific advice.
