[RESOLVED] what is needed for speed density tuning?

like the title says. i've been planning on buying dsmlink for a while but the more I think about it, the less I want to spend that much money for it considering how thin my wallet is . I'm now also considering using ostrich instead. but my real question is this, it seems advantageous to use speed density, so assuming i bought ostrich/dsmlink what else would i need?

With the ostrich, the best way to go would be dsmap. DS-MAP.NET • Index page It is full speed density. You would need an e-prom ecu, the ostrich emulator, a laptop, a gm iat sensor, a 3 bar map sensor and a wideband o2. This also allows you to get rid of the mas.

Just keep in mind that if you plan on running a lot of boost (more than 29 psi), you'll need a bigger MAP sensor than 3 bars. 1 bar of any MAP sensor is used for vacuum, so that leaves you with 2 bar left.

You will need a moats ostrich, wideband, eprom that is socketed, map senosr and a GM AIT sensor. A new release of Jackal came out and there are a few different map sensors you can use now. Up to the AEM 5 bar. So you wont be boost limited I promise. Check out ds-map.net for more info. I mod there so send me a PM if you need more help.

My question is about the wideband. Just the sensor, or the whole chebang? As in a gauge, etc? And did I waste $40 on the Sunpro gauge I bought?

You need the sensor and controller. The ECU doesn't support a wideband O2 sensor so you need the controller to act as an interface and then feed it's output to the ECU.
