Well my Friend Sean an I (LOL we got the same name an the same car but his is a black 90 awd) well we searched an got everything right an got an SAFC 2 hooked up in his Talon an got a few good pulls in realized with how cool it was out side that their was no way he can be going full throttle on a big 16g with a stock fuel system hahha but anyways he kept his foot out of it (hes got a wideband in the car) an we just got the drive ability back an even better :)..but heres the problem he went to go start the car after all this an it staled twice an then idle was real up and down then threw a code.. were gonna use his ultra hi tech scan tool in the morning an see what it is o yea its...an analog volt meter haha

Anyone ever hear of this?
O and if your gonna bash I dont care leave it out just dont bother to post cause I really dont care what you have to say if its not gonna help me

O and he is just waiting till we can get another logger cable to get a couple logs for the fuel trims.. We looked on RREs website an read for like two hours on here(on tuners) and on RRE an we are running their map with a few changes

Dataloggers will read the code. Usually when a code is thrown after an safc install it due to poor wiring at the ecu when you connect the safc wire to the maf signal wire on the ecu.

nope not bad wiring.. we (well I) made a jumper harness and made all the right connections.. I am not a total nood now haha and it had no code before that.. it ran great we had proly started and shut the car off like 4-5 times and the last time it went from being really great when we shut it down to just plain garbage after it started back up...

yes it is :) the car was pulling hard... we changed nothing at all just turbo timed the car down let it cool down for like an hour then bam code + bad idle...

Check the maf. I would read the code first obviously, but something that can trigger a CEL and give you such crappy idle, is the MAF.

Hmmm ok thanks for the idea! I got my other freind to bring the logging cable an the softwear in exchange for a few things I am gonna help him do. An if the maf is the problem we alwats still got my stocker :)

ok Ill check for any lose connections but everything was soldered an heat shrinked. We looked at his IC pipes at night but he has a blt that we will throw on just in case, hes got the punishment racing short route with a synapse bov recirulated.. now I had heard (just word of most never accualy read anything that said this but) is their any way to vent the bov with out it dieing on just an Safc?

Venting the BOV with just an safc will cause the motor run rich between shifts or whenever the BOV releases air. The problem is not the tuning device but the fact the stock maf is in front of the turbo and it has read the air that gets vented off at the BOV. If this does not go back into the intake the car will run rich since the ecu has adjusted fuel for that air.

If you run a gm maf at the UICP the ecu does not read that air anymore and its ok to vent the BOV. SD is also another way to meter the air and allows the BOV to be vented.

Yea thats exactly what I said but my room mate likes to act like hes all knowing but truth be told hes just a honda guy HAHAHAHHAH I accually am trading my MAFt for a 6 bolt motor (I am givin a bit more than just thaqt but just sayin haha) an I plan on goin to jackel :D hes got megasquirt thats all put together but its his DD so he cant have a ton of down time :(

SD is the way to go. Its a lot easier to tune and its dead on. My tune with my gm maf wonders around 11.3-11.5 AFR no madder what I do. Ive seen some SD cars where the AFR sits at 11.1 solid the whole run.

Well he got the code it was the maf signal the safc was messing up hard core an it was changing settings everytime you shut it off :(.. so we killed power to it all together an pluged it back in and it worked fine... still running lean up top LOL we put a N/a fpr in and stabbed the throttle in first rolling around 3k an the front tires spun!! pulled like a beast but had to let off by 5k cause it was getting into the 14s on his wideband :( so next in order in a walbro 255 LOL and 650s
