Tuning tools:

SAFC 1, Pocketlogger, AEM wideband

Injectors: 560cc Evo

My initial lo-settings are -20 across the board

I need help figuring out a good place to start with the hi-settings.

ATM my map divider is 30% throttle for lo and 70% for hi.

I am running a evo 3 16g at 14psi, stock exhaust (new flex/downpipe)

Any help greatly appreciated.

Ok but do I start the hi settings the same as lo and then adjust from there?

Theres nothing special with your specific setup! your setup as nothing special to not be able to tune with an safc like another car?!?! tune for good afr and less possible knock and it will be ok

step 1 of the guide.

STEP 1: Setting up the car and the SAFC.

Before we begin the guide on how to tune with a SAFC, you must make sure the car is set up correctly to do so. Make sure all the fuel components are in good condition, and make sure you have no boost or vacuum leaks. Also, if you have a 255 lph or larger fuel pump with no adjustable regulator, then either get a new reg or don't try to use the fuel trim techniques outlined below.

Second of all, setting up the SAFC. At this point, I will assume that you have it wired in properly, if you do not, there are plenty of directions in the VFAQ. Also, may I suggest that you DO NOT do the "blue wire mod", it has been proven to degenerate the O2 sensor's signal.

In the Th-Point section of the SAFC, set the low trigger at 30%, and the high trigger around 80-85%.

In the NePoint section, set them to: 1k, 2k, 3k, 4k, 4.5k, 5k, 6k, and 7k,.

Now, you want to use baseline corrections for fuel injectors. If you have 450's, leave both tables at zero. If you have 550's, put them around -10%. If you have 660's, usually around -18% would be a fine starting point. If you have a hacked MAS, then you will want to use about 5% MORE than these values.

The next section will cover fuel trims, and how to set the low throttle table.

Thats wrong you want to set the global correction to about -20% with 560's for a good baseline since they flow like 580's do a search and look for other people safc settings with evo injectors. Since you have a wide band I'd shoot for a 11.1 afr or maybe even a 11.5.1 and turn the boost up.

j/w how creep does the turbo have at 14psi with the stock exhaust.

There is no "Global" setting on a SAFC. Unless you meant the Hi and Lo maps.

And you always want to START out richer that you think you will end up.

I would start out at around -15 across the board on the Lo map. Find out what your fuel trims are at and adjust leaner or richer at every RPM setting you have based on what the fuel trims are telling you. Start at the same -15 across the board on the Hi map and watch your AFR at WOT. Lean it out or richen it up till you get to your desired AFR. If you are running pump gas I would not go as lean as 11.0-11.5:1 as meantioned above for several reasons. Since you are using an AFC I assume you don't have a way to control timing. And the more you lean it out the more timing you are going to have while at WOT. I would shoot for a 10.5-10.8:1 AFR.

Once you get that all ironed out, then you can start messing with upping the boost.

Wondering if you have an update on this?

Done any more tuning?

Last time I checked your settings SHOULD be driving you lean as hell. (-20%) is a huge correction factor for 550's or 560's.

-20 is working ok so far..i have -20 on both lo and hi throttle all the way across at 20psi. obviously it needs major adjustment.

-20% is not lean for 560's. Mathematical base correction for that size injector is -19.7% just to hit the ECU's target AFR of 9.5:1.

If you want some help with the tune, make a 3rd gear pull from 2.5k to redline logging airflow, rpm, front O2 and timing only. Then post up the log and we can take a look at things.
