OK I am new to this form thing and am not aloud to post in the tec forms. I have a 1990 gsx with a frash rebuild and when the motor is cold I have about 30 psi of oil. After the motor waems up the psi slowley drops to 0. Now i have a after market gauge that is hooked up rite befor the turbo oil feed. I wanted to know the oil psi at the turbo . Has aney one hade this type of proble.Every thing on the motor is new and it has a bse kit with block off bearings.

On a cold start you should have about 80-90 PSI of oil pressure. After the car warms up it should be between 10-20, but no lower than 10 psi. As the RPM's increase, you should get at least 10 psi for every 1000 rpm, without the BS, may be even higher. But all this is when you hook the gauge from oil sending unit. The way you described yours, seems like you get feed from the head. Then the number will be lower .

You are monitoring restricted oil pressure at the head. You need to hook your gauge into the oil filter housing where the stock sending unit is. You can just remove the stock bell shaped sending unit, install a brass tee into the oil filter housing, and then install the stock sender and aftermarket sender into the tee.

Hmmm. well i just took that sending unit off of my car cause it didn't work anyway and im running just the aftermarket gauge. I tried the tapping with a brass T and the thing broke and almost had to buy a new oil cooler so i just use the aftermarket gauge. And the oil pressure in my car with no BS doesn't get over 75psi once the gauge gets there it starts to bounce back and forth.

Thnks for all your input the problem was 2 things were i was hooked and the plastic nylon hose that the gauge came with .I used a copper one i have 80 pis at start up and and about 20 after its warmed up. The other hose was getting hot and sealing off flow to the gauge.
