as most of you know my merkur of the mitsubishi world stranded me at the gas station last wed.

So I have no spark so I thought on my talon (well no spark on number 1 cylinder) well I got a new/used Power transistor thinking that was the issue. Guess what? No its not. I changed out the cas for a good working cas and nothing. I changed the coil for a working coil and nothing.

So I changed plug wire number 1 and nothing

So I changed the plugs nothing

Changed that fuel box on the firewall nothing.

I hooked the computer up to the car and turned the fuel pump on which you can hear when you turn it over.

I have no idea were to start.

It has a newer fuel filter (maybe 1k miles on it) but when I finished the build on the car there was roughly a half tank of e85 mixed with 93.

Well fixed the spark issue when I put the Transistor on the bracket and mounted it. Now I have a fuel issue.

I took off one of the couplers and sprayed some starting fluid in it and it started right up. I went and got a fuel filter since I did run some e85 through the car. I'm taking a break its about 110* here right now with the heat index.
 
what stops the injectors from firing?

I hooked up dsmlink and tried to fire injectors and i get nothing.
 
I put a black top on during this whole no fire ordeal and nothing so maybe I should put the green top on.

My question is does the resitor box have to be bolted to the firewall for it to work? Because I tried another resistor box just laying on the cruise control box and nothing.

I will try and swap cas again and see what happens. Its so damn hot right now 110* heat index I have to take lots of breaks.
 
Okay now I have too much fuel?

Now the plugs are soaked.

I am going to pull the fuel return line and pump some fuel into a bottle to let it settle to see if I got water or something else in my fuel.

I also checked the timing marks everything is right.
 
okay, as soon as the rain lets up I will run out to the garage.
 
for somereason I cant log. DSMlink says its connected. but wont run a log I have tried on both 2.5 and v 3

but my wide band is reading high 16's while turning it over....

I dont get it.

Just a question here to maybe get a thought process going.

When you were at the gas station did you fill up? What fuel did you fill up with? 93? E-85?

If you had E85 in the tank and then swapped to 93 and didn't reset your base settings to correct for how rich you have to make e85. Then you might just be pumping too much fuel in.

I would check your global and deadtime settings and make sure it's all correct.
 
I put e85 in the car somewere around december and then the car sat until march when I did a ton of work to it. this was the 5th or 6th tank of fuel since the e85.

I dont get this car dsmlink says its connected but it wont run a log like a flatline until you start it so I dont get this at all.

Just looked over the logfile... Granted, I don't use DSMlink so bear with me. The only thing that jumped out at me is your deadtime of 2295! Shouldn't it be a lot lower than this? Possibly about 295us. Maybe you just made a typo when you entered that number in?

Man... you're only about 4 hours away from me. I'd drive up there if I had the time off to do so. I'd bring my spare ECU for you to try out as well as swapping parts from my car in order to figure it out!

Little bit further that that more along the lines of 4 1/2 to 5 hours. At least thats what I remember from going to arrowhead and then getting hammered when trent green had his head smeared on the turf.....

Then I went to the 49 game later that year an got hammered again and go lost in st joe? well we found a hooters got drunk some more and passed out in the car in the parking lot LOL
