as most of you know my merkur of the mitsubishi world stranded me at the gas station last wed.

So I have no spark so I thought on my talon (well no spark on number 1 cylinder) well I got a new/used Power transistor thinking that was the issue. Guess what? No its not. I changed out the cas for a good working cas and nothing. I changed the coil for a working coil and nothing.

So I changed plug wire number 1 and nothing

So I changed the plugs nothing

Changed that fuel box on the firewall nothing.

I hooked the computer up to the car and turned the fuel pump on which you can hear when you turn it over.

I have no idea were to start.

It has a newer fuel filter (maybe 1k miles on it) but when I finished the build on the car there was roughly a half tank of e85 mixed with 93.

My talon was doin that a few yrs back, it ended up being a ground near the fuse panel in the engine bay. The ground was for my mas. its on the inner skirt wall. Just a thought.

if you've done all you can with the ignition and have no spark check change ground relays and swap ecu that all thats left really. Ok I just watch the video whats you oil pressure look like. I know that kinda off topic but it may help if you just had the motor rebuilt that the compression like on all four.

Man sorry to hear about your problem. I read your post the other day about it breaking down. I am a dsm newbie but ive been around cars for a while. I know from experience that a fresh set of eyes makes all the difference. Hopefully you can get some help.

I have a question. How are you checking for spark? If you are pulling the plug and holding it on the valve cover have you tried switching the plugs around? This may sound like a dumb idea and forgive me if it is but i thought id ask. Could be the plug itself right? Hope you get it fixed.

My buddie pull the plug wire and all of them arched but #1. I changed the plugs between video 1 and two.

I have a few 90 only parts Like power tr units and a coil if you need some spare parts.

I'm tired of this car. I just put it up for sale for real.

I would like to sell it running so I could get more cash but its going to be something stupid and someone is going to get a killer deal.

Go get you a spark plug tester. Doesn't cost you much at the near auto part store. Most of the time when you're testing spark just by laying it on the valve cover it doesn't work. Best way to test for spark is a "spark tester" If you're getting spark from one coil Im sure 80% you are getting all 4 sparks.

Crank the engine a couple of time then go back to the end of your car and smell the tail pipe. If you can smell gas that mean the computer and MAF is getting signal. If not then you may have a faulty MAF, faulty CAS, or a bad computer. Check all the main harness that runs to the MAF, and the CAS for lose or broken wire.

Hope this helps.

ecu works since I can get DSMlink to work on it.

the only thing that I have done to the maf lately was put the stock cover on it.

I will go and get a spark tester tomorrow but I also changed out the cas for a good working one. Different coil and TR unit.

Thats why I asked if there are wires that go through the core support since I drilled into if for the air splitter a couple of weeks ago.

Now The maf and a new knock sensor is the only thing I have done to the car other than the air splitter.
but the car should start even though the maf is unplugged so that isn't the problem.

I see. I don't know much about DSMlink. If you're getting sparks and you can hear your fuel pump then that mean the ECU isn't receiving any single from the MAF or CAS. Most of the time mine wont even start when I unplug the MAF. If it's not the MAF then it must be the CAS. I didn't understand when you said wires that go through the core support since you drilled into? Did your car run after you did that? If so that shouldn't be the problem but Im not sure. Any way do your spark plug test first then lets start from there.

Another easy way to find out if you're computer is sending signal to the injectors is to crank the motor a few time with out spark plugs and wires and smell the spark plug hoe and see if you can smell gas in all 4 cylinder. Just make sure you keep spark plug wire away from the spark plug hole before you start the motor. I know this may sound funny or too much work for you but its a good way to troubleshoot and begin from there.

No I haven't back tracked the wires.

as you can see in the videos that it fires up for a second and just flat does nothing.

Makes me wonder if the dang thing isn't getting fuel aka plugged up fuel filter although its new I did run some e85 through it or maybe an injector (s) took a dump.

I dont know. I just dont have the ambition to deal with this car anymore. I dont ever get to enjoy it. I put alot of time and effort in this car since fall and then this.

Welcome to the world of dsm's...Modded cars aren't that reliable..Especially older car like we have the wiring gets old and causes all kinds of crappy things to happen.. But you only have 60k, so I don't really know why you are having this many problems..COuld be the freakin humidity in our area causing corrosion in the wiring which is shitty, because then we have to take the time to backtrack and diagnose..It gets to be alot of work, but when shes running, it is a good time..

aaaawwwww man dont give up figure out the problem..u did say you put all the time and effort into the car..so when u get the car running eventually it will be the best feeling in the world..also if u sell it to some little punk locally and he gets it running u are gonna be super pissed so just be patient man and take it slow..u can never rush perfection:)

I'm going to take the wideband wire off the ecu but other than that I'm completly lost. Also another thing I didn't do is when I got the new TRunit I just plugged it in and let it hang out.

So I wonder if it has to be grounded on the bracket?

Ha I moving in little over a month so I wouldn't see the car.

I really wasn't into DSM's like alot of people on here I just fell into it and i opened my wallet. The sad part is I wont see it on the dyno.

I'm going to try to get it running but I have until friday to either sell it or I'm going to part it out.

damn bro sry to hear...LOL shit if u were closer i coulda use some parts for my talon..it doesnt start at all hahah

Yeah ground it. They must have reasons for it.

I will try that tomorrow but what coolant sensor are you speaking of? can you show me a pic?

Is it on the bottom part of the thermostat housing and to the right? next to the vacume hose (that I dont have anymore went with a coolant gauge) or is it the one on the top of the housing?
