I am just freaking out, the motor is fully built 20 over pistons with new everything from top down. Try to started this afternoon ran it for 15 second and come to realized no oil pressure and pump not working.

Questions-

What are the damages to the bottom end?
-drain the oil one or two little metals flakes(tiny)

What could be the real problem?
-suspect the oil pump not working

What is the solution?
-another oil pump?

Please help!

You drained the oil and metal shavings came out? Well that could tell that you may have spun a bearing. Was this your first engine start after the rebuild? Did you prime the oil pump?

Yes, first engine start. Yes we thought we did but apparently we did not.

Well since its a new build did you prime the oil pump?

We turn the motor with the starter, and run for few seconds. Is that priming the oil pump, is that what you mean?

I would check the specs on everything in the motor if you ran the car without oil. It takes more time, but why would you risk running a built motor with ####ed up clearances.

You also may want to look into why the oil pump isn't pumping.

Well im in the same boat here, i got a freshly new built motor but both my gauge cluster oil pressure and my prosport oil pressure gauge read close to low. my prosport gauge reads between 2 and 5 at idle but when i give it gas it goes up to 20-25. i also pulled the pan off and saw some metal shavings in the pan but was told that would happen with a new motor. I really dont wanna drive the car unless I figure this out first. any suggestions not already made would help.

i would not even drive it until u figure out what's going on. i would do two or three oil change before i drive it. sound about right, the oil pressure supposed to go up with the rpm went up.

My oil issue is resolved, thanks for everyone who helped.

Are you relying on the stock oil pressure gauge and dummy light, or do you actually have an accurate one?

did you hook your oil pressure sensor back up?

My first thought as well. Make sure that little black clip is attached to the sensor on your OFH.

I want to add to this, if you haven't gotten an aftermarket oil pressure gauge yet, do so. You'll need it regardless as the stock oil pressure gauge isn't that accurate.

Edit - Beat me to it delta.

Its good that you got it solved, and it didn't cause damage to your new build. Figured it had to of been because you didn't prime that pump.

Like these guys said get an aftermarket oil pressure gauge. The stock are terrible at accuracy.

right now i am going by the factory oil gage. is it still safe for now?

Polk said they haven't seen little or no metals form the oil change.

Now the car is running pig rich. we check the boost leak and fixed it. still rich.
it keep on throwing code that said 2g maf sensor.
i also have 255 walbro fuel pump with no aftermarket air fuel pressure regulator, could it be the problem?

I wouldn't trust the stock oil gauge for a second. So no IMO.

Yes running a 255 walbro fuel pump without a afpr will make your motor run pig rich in most cases.

As long as you used assembly lubed and used a fair amount the 15secs of run time didn't damage anything.. The best way i've found to prime the pumps is to remove the brake boost fitting on the manifold and install it in the OFH pressure sender spot and pump oil into it using a tranny oil pump.

If I have no oil leaks but I do have oil coming from the top of the valve cover between the grommet and the cylinder can this cause low oil pressure? I have checked everything else and yes i do have an aftermarket oil pressure gauge and also oil temp gauge. just curious if having a crack or leak from the valve cover can cause very low oil pressure reading between 0-5lbs but jumps to 25-30 when i give it gas.
