Hello everyone, I own a 1991 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Here's the problem:

My foglights only work when the car is off, and the headlight switch is turned on. The key can also be in the ignition, but doesnt have to be, and CANNOT be turned forward at all(toward accessories). As soon as you turn the key forward, the foglights shut off, and the headlight come on. Also when the car is on, the foglights will not work at all.

The car has had a SAFC installed on it before, but a shop took it out. I have no idea what would cause this, I was thinking maybe the wiring by the ECU from the SAFC?

I already ordered a brand new fog light relay, and the fogs still didnt work when the car was on. I found out the the foglights would work when the car was off, and the headlight switch was on after I returned the brand new relay because it still didnt make my fogs work. I also switched the 15 fuse for the fogs too. And still nothing.

Any help at all would be appreciated. My headlights suck incredibly bad and I am trying to get a little more light in front of me. Thanks guys!

Basically it was over looking a very simple problem. I had my brights on, and the fogs dont run with brights on. So everytime I would turn the car to accesories, or turn it on, the brights would be on. And when the brights are on, the fogs wont work. The reason they ran with the key out of the ignition, and the headlights turned on, is because the car was off, so the headlights wouldnt technically be on the switch for them was. And since the headlights were not technically turned on, the fogs would come on.

Okay happens to us all at one time or another. Just remember that if your passenger window wont roll down or up unlock the window switch.
