[RESOLVED] clutch problems

i basically putting my car back together after sitting for a while just relized the clutch slave was locked up so i bought a new one and changed it...now after putting the new one on my clutch pedal go to the floor and doesnt come back up. at this point the car still cant be started but before i get into putting it all back together just wanted to know does the car have to be running for the hydraulic system of the clutch system to build up? or do you guys think i have another problem on my hand?

Do you think your master cylinder is okay? I would check that and see if its leaking in your floorboard?

If you changed your slave cylinder you need to bleed your clutch lines.

The pedal will fall to the floor if the system is not blead because there air in your system.

The bleeder is on the front of the slave cylinder that you just changed. Have a buddy pump up your pedal and then you crack the bleeder, just like doing brakes.

mine did the same thing. i ended up replacing both master and slave and flex hose. didn't take long at all. make sure all the air is bled out of the system,if your still having problems chances are the master gone to. good luck.

yea i bleed the system it still hits the floor an there is no fluid leaking out the master ...in order for me to bleed the system i had to pump it with my hand back and forth....still need to know if car has to be running for it to build up pressure in the system

You can start the car just fine without it
You just wont be able to drive anywhere.

You'll have to keep bleeding the clutch inorder to get ALL the air out of the lines, iv'e had to bleed lines for 10min before i got all the air out successfully Just takes patience

yea cant start car yet wanted to make sure i didnt have to drop the tranny again..ok ill keep bleeding it thanks...
