There looks to be a nipple on the intercooler pipe flange/bov flange. Can i tap this as a boost source? Im setting up an mbc

In the pictue the plugged rubber hose is still attatched to it, but you get the idea

No you cannot. There is no boost at that nipple, hence it's existence. It's designed to allow the quick-release chamber to be hooked to it's own boost source from the turbocharger in order to aid in opening the valve quickly at low boost. This method can be disconnected if you decide to run more than 20psi or so....as the photo displays.

Something you should do it remove that plug from the nipple. It shouldn't be plugged....it needs to vent freely in order to allow expansion room in the quick-release chamber.

Proper boost gauge hookup requires a vacuum source, and vacuum is only seen between the throttle body and engine. You'll need to tap into a source on the intake manifold.

Ive been at work all day, just got on the computer now. Thanks for the replies guys.
The BOV is recirculated.
We'll im not running 20 psi so ill unplug it. This is just how it was when i bought the bov. I'm not setting up a boost gauge, im setting up an mbc.
Any ideas on how i can tap the j-pipe? It didnt come with a nipple.

If you want to return the BOV to stock function, that extra nipple needs to connect somewhere that sees boost. That extra nipple leads to the underside of the diaphragm, so it is pushing up with boost pressure. The upper vaccuum line (goes to intake manifold) is pushing down on the diaphragm from above when you have the car floored and the throttle body is open (a bit less pressure than what's below because of pressure drops along the intake system). But when you let off the gas, the throttle closes, the mani sees vaccuum, and the diaphragm all-of-the-sudden has pushing from below and pulling (vaccuum) from above and pops open. The dodge mod disconnects the lower half of that system so that you only push or pull on the diaphragm from above, but without the additional pushing from below. But...the BOV holds more boost that way, because there's only push from above under boost and that holds the BOV closed to higher pressure.

If you tap the j-pipe, you could tee the line so that one goes to the MBC and the other goes to that nipple. And for those who say don't tee your MBC to the BOV line, I agree, but that's not the same as this (he'd not be connecting to the upper vaccuum line, but to the dodge garage mod nipple). But uncapping it is better than nothing...and really easy to do :thumb:.

As for tapping the j-pipe, I've seen it covered a whole bunch on this site. Search for half an hour and you'll find a whole lot of ways to skin that same cat.

Good luck!

Awesome reply, exactly what i was looking for.
I will definetly tap the j-pipe, then tee the line for the mbc and the nipple.
I'll be doing that today, then boost leak check !

Thanks
