I have a alterstart alternator that is about 6 months old. I had a new head installed by someone I know. Now for some reason the alternator varies from 13.9-16.9v's and changes all the time.

Other than replacing the alternator what else could cause this to happen?

Bad diode in the alternator can cause it to occur from a/c voltage being present or more than likely voltage regulator just gone bad in it...

Well, I'm a certified ASE P2 Parts Specialist so let me tell you if its a reman with ltd. lifetime warranty... it has that warranty for a reason... True OE parts are the best way to go, thats why theres price differences from retail to parts division in the dealers... you get what you pay for and its sometimes true that retail will be the equal part, but not very much...

Yes I know this. I went through 3 auto part store crappy alternators before buying this one from alterstart. Its also a reman but they are known to have great higher amp and stock units. It has a lifetime warranty I believe so I hope I can find a junkyard one till I get this fixed.
