reseting ecu and setting timing

This might be a stupid question, but how do I reset my ecu? I did a lot of stuff to my car, and it just doesnt seem like its running right, I was going to try reseting the ecu, but I dont know what I have to do.

I also would like it if someone could explain to me where the heck is the peice to ground the ecu when you set the timing, i have looked at the vfaq, but i cant tell what plug he is grounding, the pic isnt the greatest, there are a bunch of plugs right there on the firewall, is it the one that looks like ==## (= is 2 wires # is black plug)
or is it --##-- (--one wire)??

Unplug the battery from the car or the ecu from the harness and let it sit for a while (like 10 minutes) and it'll reset. Mine idles wierd for a while while it's "learning" everything again after restarting again. Just let it sit for 5-10 minutes at idle then take it for a spin.
