Price,
Utah
I purchased a 95 Talon TSI AWD M/T awhile back knowing that it needed some work.
Goal:
350-400AWHP as reliable as can be
80% street driving (0-40 MPH), 20% highway (cruising @ 70MPH)
So far:
6 bolt motor B/S Removed
AC and Emissions removed
Fluidyne Radiator
3" offroad turboback exhaust
20G w/external wastegate
FIC 1050
Walbro 255
AFPR set to 43.5 PSI
DSMLink V2
PLX Wideband
Problem:
Every gear except first gear will engage (put into 1st, grinds when clutch let out)
I live in a small town in Utah, there are really no performance shops close by, however I finally found a shop that knew what a 6 bolt 4G63 swap meant.
What I've had them do so far:
Compression/leakdown test
Timing belt/pulley replacements
Set base timing 5 BTDC
Water pump
I am paying them labor to replace the transmission/clutch/other parts that I give them.
Currently I am looking at either the economy ($700) transmission swap from TRE or their $1050 build, input on this would be appreciated, from what I've read either one will hold up to 400 HP, I am debating if the extra $350 is worth it for my goals.
I need recommendations on a clutch.
Currently I've been looking at the ACT 2600 + Fidanza flywheel combo, but have been reading good things about the Fidanza 3.2 Kevlar as well as the Fidanza 4.3.
I am not too concerned with the clutch pedal feel being luxurious, my last three vehicles have been an 04 Turbo GTO, 06 GTO, and 01 WS6 (all M6) and I have never had a complaint about the clutch, though I am not sure the actual difference between the feel of those stock clutches compared with a performance DSM clutch.
At the same time of the transmission swap I am going to have them replace the clutch and other parts that I can think of.
I believe I've ordered everything needed for this besides the actual clutch kit/flywheel, please check my list and make recommendations:
OEM Clutch Master Cylinder Assembly : Mitsubishi Eclipse 95-99
OEM Clutch Slave Cylinder Assembly : Mitsubishi Eclipse 95-99
OEM Clutch Pivot Ball : Mitsubishi Eclipse 90-99
Extreme PSI Complete Clutch Line (Slave to Master Cyl.): Mitsubishi
OEM Gear Shift Cable: Mitsubishi Eclipse 95-99
OEM Clutch Release Fork : Mitsubishi Eclipse 90-99
Slave Cylinder Extension Rod : Mitsubishi Eclipse 90-99
New Engine/Starter Plate 4G63 Turbo 6 Bolt M/T
Thanks for the feedback,
