replacing the balance shaft belt

im installing a new balance shaft belt but i cannot get the new 1 on the crank sprocket, there is no room around the sprocket for it to fit. do i have to pull the smaller sprocket off first?

Did you losen the balance shaft belt tensioner pulley?

Then you have a 6 bolt motor, on 6 bolts you must remove the sproket in order to replace them. On 7 bolts however you can squeeze the b-belt around it.

its a 6 bolt motor, how do i get the smaller crank sprocket off?

Get the bolt off with an impact, then pull it off.

u make it sound so simple. i got the bolt off the sprocket is pressed on the crank pretty good. what exactly do i use to pull it off with? the vfaq dont say how to take it off or what to use it just says take bolt off take sprocket and back plate off.

Honestly, I have never had a problem with them. Clean the area with brake cleaner, and spray it down liberally with some lubricant, see if that helps.

sorry for double post the forum seems a lil slow posting. i cleaned area and sprayed lubercant on it. i just dont want to have to run out and buy anymore tools to do a simple job. if i have to ill get a harmonic balancer puller.
