I have 99 spyder and i was wondering what amp and wiring would be good to swap the stock amp to a better one like an easy plug and play...the louder i play my music the worst my speakers sound plus i wasnt hearing anything on the rear speakers so i pulled them out to check n they were both good. So i would like to know if i can get another amp that can replace the stock one or if i have to do anything..im running a kenwood deck btw. Thank you guys.

There isn't one that's plug and play. However if you're using a Kenwood receiver it should have line level outputs so it should be fairly simple to use. Instead of using the line level outputs that you are currently using via the OEM harness you should connect your RCA outputs from your receiver directly to your new amp. At the OEM amp harness you could find and cut out the speaker wires and wire those to the new amp's output connections. It's really not that hard.

I can't give specific recommendations on wiring or amp choices as I haven't played with car audio in probably 15 years, but in general the connections are pretty easy especially with aftermarket receivers and amps. Just make sure your new amp's wiring is of the correct gauge, and it has a very solid and clean grounding point, and avoid crossing speaker lines over any power lines (and if you have to, do so at a 90 degree angle) to avoid noise induction.

Check out this site... They have every thing you would ever need for car stereo... They have some guides there that may help you with your install.. Best of luck ..

Thank you. How many watts an amp should u recommend.

Depends on how loud you want the music to be.
Depends on how much distortion you are willing to live with.
Depends on how efficient the speakers are, that varies quite a bit.
Depends on if you're keeping existing speakers that might not be rated for much more power.

So it depends. I've noticed the market seems to care less about distortion, frequency response, channel separation, etc these days, and all the box shows is watts and pretty displays. Most people don't understand the difference between "Peak Watts per channel" and "Continuous watts RMS per channel with no more than .01% THD"

I have JL audio set up front and back the back alone are 200 watts. The fronts are loud but sounds like shit when its too high. So i was wondering on what amp would b good for my speakers.

The power rating selection for your amp heavily depends on the speakers themselves. What is the RMS limit on your speakers? Use that and look for an amp that will meet or exceed that RMS rating per channel. If you exceed it be very careful with your gain controls so that you don't set it so high that max volume from your receiver blows your speakers.

Always use the RMS rating for these determinations.
