I was throwing in the Wally 255 and upon doing so, I tore the rubber line that goes from the sending unit to the hard line under the car. I have been searching and of course stumbled upon the SteveTEK articles. However, I do not want to run all new lines. I see that he has a straight -6an fitting on to the sending unit fitting (with teflon tape). My question is that I simply want to replace the rubber hose with SS line and straight 2 -6an fittings. The only problem I see is that the flares on the -an fittings and flares on the stock lines won't match up. If, on the SteveTEK, the -6an fitting on the sending unit holds, won't a -6an fitting hold on the stock hard line as well? Thanks for any help!! -Jeremy

The quick way to repair the rip is to cut off the rubber hose and carefully cut the metal crimp that clamps the hose to the metal line. Use a cutoff wheel on a Dremel, and don't go too deep. There's a barb fitting underneath the crimp, don't cut into the barb fitting. You can simply go to the auto parts store, get a short piece of high pressure fuel line and two small hose clamps and clamp it on.

I considered running a full stainless set-up but I didn't go that route. Instead, I looked and all the vendors "tank to filter" or "tank to rail" fuel feed kits simply connected to the fitting on the sending unit. I didn't see how this would work being that the flare fittings on the -an fittings and the flares on the stock hard lines are the same ie: both /\ to /\ (picture those together like a diamond). So, to remedy this, I got 1.5ft -6an ss-line ans 2 straight -6an fittings, put them together and basically replaced the rubber line. Works fine, I had to use teflon tape to seal. Also, I had a small leak at the fitting on the sending unit so I re-taped it and used an injector o-ring to help seal and bam, all good.

Well, today I was doing some other crap when BAM, small leak at the sending unit where the straight -6an fitting attaches. So for me it didn't work. If I could find some -6an fittings that were flared the opposite (male) way, it would work great. Does anyone know if there are such fittings? I have searched through tons of pics on google looking for them but to no avail. Any help is again, greatly appreciated.
