I've got low compression due to bad piston rings, the engine hasnt had more then 500 miles on it I believe (lots of bad luck). Plan to keep same pistons. Im looking just for stock or better piston rings, not trying do any drag racing or/and break the bank.

Also when redoing the cylinder walls, should I just hone them and put in the piston rings or have it bored... and put in bigger piston rings?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If your cylinder walls are in good shape (no gougues or marring), just hone it and be done iwth it. No sense in spending cash in new pistons when you don't have to.

torque plate hone the cylinders and get some new rings! also check all of your tolerences to make sure you are in spec (oil clearence, thrust bearing clearence....ect..) :thumb:

Bigger piston rings???????

You may want to put a few more miles on it and some more pulls and see if the compression comes up. Are you using stock rings? What kind?

low compression all around, car wont start cause of the rings

Post your numbers of the compression results.

75, 75, 100, 95 . it was around this, i cant remember completely

all went to about 150-160 with alittle bit of oil

the engine was new/rebuilt but the thermostat stayed closed which blew the headgasket and coolant oil mixed which I believe messed the rings.

Ouch Check the head and block for warpagedue to heat. Re-hone the cyl walls and put in a new set of rings. Set the end gap on the rings to spec. If you do decide to go oversized you will need oversized pistons as well as rings. At this point less is better unless you have deep pockets and are looking for an excuse to bore oversize to increase displacement by .2%

Head was aligned and new headgasket.. got to do the work all over for the rings
