I have a 1999 mitsubishi eclipse im trying to replace the Harmonic Balancer on. I have the old one off, but it was a struggle getting it out once i popped it out with the puller i had to jerk it out. Well apon installingthe new one i noticed there is no way to properly seat the new pully because the frame is in the way of setting the pully flush with stem off the crank. Is there a possible solution of getting the new pully on without the stupid hassle of dropping the motor just to put it on. dropping the motor is so unnecessary and out of the way and stupid judt to put a pully on.

Thanks so Much For The Feedback and the support.

I'd semi-drop your motor.
Support the engine with a jack and wood (I'm sure specialty tools are good too).

You should now have more space to put your balancer on.

remove the coolant overflow tank. support the engine with a jack. make sure you put a piece of wood between the jack and the oil pan. then unbolt the side mount from the bracket on the motor. its (1) 17mm bolt an (2) 17mm nuts. that may be all you need to get it down far enough, if not your gonna have to unbolt the mount from the body.

your not gonna be able to get the pulley back on with just using the crank bolt you removed, its not long enough. best thing is to get a bolt about 2 inches longer than the bolt you have, that is threaded all the way up. size is M12 x 1.75 130mm And a nut to fit it. then you thread the nut all the way up the bolt and put a washer on it. Of course the it goes thru the pulley and get screw into the crank. then you just hold the head of the bolt so it doesn't turn and tighten down the nut until the pulley is almost seated , then remove the bolt and put in the original and torque it to spec.

The 4g63 comes right off, it doesnt need a puller. What engine do you have? turbo or non turbo or Spyder?

It looks like Chrysler used Briggs and Stratton to make some of their car parts LOL.

I know some of the parts on the Chrysler engine are made in mexico and Briggs and Stratton has a plant in Juarez so you may be right on that one.

Yeah the 4g is so much easier, 4 bolts and its off. The 420a is quite shitty.
