Buy it new, get a 98 Galant 2.4L SOHC alternator, its a 90A instead of a 75a like the stock alternator. It cost me $130 without the core charge, and it comes with a 3 yr warranty.

Or if you don't want to spend that much for a new one, get a reman at a starter/alternator repair shop. DON'T get a reman at ANY of the normal auto stores (Autozone, Oreillies, etc) - they are all junk! I know they have a 3 yr or lifetime warranty but what good is that when you get standed somewhere or you keep having to replace it 5, 6, 7, 8 times (with your free replacement)? If you don't believe me just search these forums about auto store alts.

^ spending the little extra is worth it to me and I am sure many others instead if dealing with the hustle of replacing 3-4-5 or more alternators to find a good one.

I dont know about most of the guys that bought junk from auto parts store, but i had to replace mine 6-7 times bevause that guy couldnt listen and gave me the alt for an automatic which i believe was 75 amps whereas the 5 speed is a 60 amp. My battery exploded in my engine bay from over charging. I dont trust auto part stores or their employees any more

↑ the one I'm about to buy is a 75 amp should I not get it? I don't think I've seen a 60amp

The 65a alternator was only on NT manuals , NT Automatics and all Turbo 1gs are 75a and Canadian 1g turbos have a 90a. It wasn't that it was 75a that made your battery blow up, there may have been something else wrong with the alternator.

Yes you should get it, or get the 90a Galant.
