replacing alternator, have fitment question

Well, I'll be getting one from NAPA, just need something reliable. I bought an autozone one a year ago and have replaced it 3 times now. Its time for a "refund" I think.

Anyways, NAPA have it, they've got the NAPA "brand" one 75amps for $260 without core.

They also have:
BOSCH w/ 90 Amp Alternator, w/ External Regulator, 12 Volt, Clockwise for $229 (new)
BOSCH w/ 75 Amp Alternator, w/ Internal Regulator - $ 159 + core $83

I asked the guy about the 90amp BOSCH alternator and he said the bracket is different. I know 1g and 2g are different, but they have the bosch listen on their website for 2g as a replacement.

Can anyone help out? Will the Bosch alternators fit no problema? I'd like the 90amp one if possible.

i duno - but if ya find out -- ya may want to do a right up on the install and modifications (if any ) yahave to do. alot of people want higher amp alt's.

as a guy that's had random problems with alternator his entire life, I'll tell you that there's really only two options you should go with... No.1-buy factory parts. shouldn't really be that difficult to find, but they will be more expensive. No.2 You just can't bring yourself to spend the money. Since you're allready at NAPA, they have a option where you can choose to buy their lifetime guarantee alternator. It will still fail, just like every other alternator they have, but now you're guaranteed to get a new one since all their other alternators are only waranteed for a year. Another interesting sidenote, the warrantee runs from the original alternator date of purpose. If you buy an alternator and it goes out in six months, you get a new one. Seven months later that one goes out...guess what your warantee has expired. Anyway, I tried to save the money and get bosch or some other part that I thought would be better. When it comes down to it. Any part you get from NAPA, Kragen, Pepboys...whatever. They are all rebuilt and will likely fail within a year to 3 years.

ha, you got that right man. This is no joke. I went through 6 Kragen alternators in a 7 month period. No joke. Everytime, it was something different. One of the time, the regulator inside the alternator went out and it was charging my battery to 17 or 19 volts instead of 12.4. The only reason I figured it out was the uncanny fact that sulpheric acid smells exactly like rotten eggs. At best you can expect 3 years...if you are amazingly lucky.

I have done four alternators in the last year thank god for the lifetime warranty! The last one went in yesterday the regulator went out and I was running 18v. Blew out my headlights but it was the first time that my windows would go up and down really fast I wish I could keep that part.

well i know an old montero alternator fits if u run an external regulator form an old ford ranger, i think its liek a 190 amp or something, i know my friend has one on his talon and no matter what there is never a lod on that things

2G Galant 90amp fits. Or Just get a 150amp for $250 from www.alterstart.com. You have to call them for it.
