I have a n/t 90 eclipse and the tranny needed replaced so I had a friend replace it with another used/better one....seems to shift really nice...except from 1st to second...and when i stop and go to put it back into 1st its really tough sometimes..it resists a lot...is this just because it needs worn in or what?

If it's used it doesn't need to be worn in :)

Probably was messed up to begin with. Transmissions are something you really need to look into before buying (or buy new)..

I don't know how hard or easy it is to change on an fwd, but I changed my awd and it's not a job I want to do twice :) Do it right the first time..

Yeah well i payed next to nothing for it....i mean it shifts really nice its just going back into 1st sometimes it resists..and i meant worn in by the tranny fluid getting through and everything...

When you have the clutch in and are at a dead stop push up into the first gear slot and then wiggle it left and right and it will fall in place. Not that I know from experience:p

Also when you go to shift to second you need to do it slow by waiting for the rpms to drop quite a bit. All the 90 transmissions came stock with gremlins included.
wow haha...1st to second isnt really that bad..i just got my car back today and ive been driving it around and it seems like they're loosening up a bit more...one thing i didnt mention though is my old tranny of course was a n/t tranny...and this "new" one that my friend put in for me was off of a turbo eclipse...so dont quote me on this but it seems to me that the gear ratios are different...and i had a new clutch put in so its taking me a little bit to get used to the new feel of everything.. :dsm:

The only problems i really had with this damn car have been transmission problems...cant wait till they start with this one too :notgood:

yeah thats what I was thinking as well...however I only know one friend who would rebuild it for me and he doesnt have the time to rebuild it in a speedy time to get my car back to me...so he basically gave me this "new" tranny for 200 bucks and installed it...its better than having my car sit in a garage for the rest of the summer...and now hes going to rebuild my old tranny but hes going to do it over a long period of time..so I could always get it back when hes done rebuilding it or I can let him re sell it to someone else..but this was the best option for me at the price..

Have you tried putting it in second and then in first when you go to take off?
