Hello everybody, obviously i am new. I have a 1997 eclipse rs manual trans. Im pretty concerned, early in the mornings while its still cold out, the first start up my tranny is making a grinding noise like theres a gear lose or something. it only does it when the car is in gear moving or not. after it has time to warm up (the tranny) it stops all together. I just had it replaced not even 2 weeks ago and the last one did the same thing, but the synchronizers were bad too, as well as the input shaft, as i was told. This one only has 65k miles on it, as i was told. last night it "popped" out of 4th gear, slow driving then the same thin in 2nd. is this common? Second issue, my computer wont communicate with the scanner and the cel is on. i was told this happends alot and sometimes never affects the car. the car only has 114k im already 7 grand in and a law suit pending on lemon law. Any idea whats going on?

popping out of gear is a clue...

check these:
1) if your shift cables and shifter are properly adjusted, including confirming that you have the right shiter cables for the tranny you picked up.
2) if your clutch system is appropriately bled and in good working order (including the master and slave cylinders);
3) if you are confident that your clutch/tranny were correctly installed; and if you are not having and clutch pedal issues...

as to the grinding noise when cold and goes away upon warm up:
a) does it change if you press the clutch pedal in partly? all the way? is the sound different when the car is still vs. when it is moving?
b) torque down all the tranny and TC bolts.
c) when the car is moving is the noise the same in all gears?
d) how confident that your tranny was correctly installed?
e) how confident are you that the bell housing had no issues, including the shims that align it properly and keep it from moving when at WOT?
