Alright , I have a 1995 Eagle Talon TSI AWD and I blew my headgasket so I decided to get my head rebuilt. So the car was running just fine other then the oil leak and I took the head off, had the head remachined/valve job and I also ordered a tube type turbo header, b16g turbo, tube type o2 housing, fuel rail, waterpump, themostat, fuel pump, and a few other little items...

so I have it all installed , everything back in correctly , now its time to put the timing belt on. I have read the vfaq and my service manuel many times, and did it correctly about 20 times, and when I get everything lined up and type to crank the crankshaft the pistons hit the valves... I am making sure my #1 piston is all the way up and everything before I get the belt on... what could be causing this? Just got a valve job so I am pretty sure that is all good in there, any comments would help me out alot, thanks

O , and when I am lining up the cam gears, when I get the notches dead center I cannot actually move then any futher , like again it is hitting the piston on the valve or somthing...

Are you actually lining up the correct timin marks. There are two on the cam gears and unless you line up the correct ones then you will have this problem. It is reall easy to determine if you are lining up the correct marks, all you have to do is make sure that the dowel pins are up. If your marks are lined up correctly then the only you will have a problem with the valves hitting would have to be related to the valves not being installed correctly.

One last thing, How do you know that you are hitting your valves? Does the crank just stop turning over or does it get really hard? Did you put the plugs in before you set the time?

I was wondering if your CAS is back in place. When I reinstalled my head, I correctly had everything installed and all the timing marks were correct. The problem I had was that the machine shop that I had my head remachined at installed my cams backwards. It's a far chance, but just a thought.

I didn't think it was possiable for them to install my cams backwards, does anyone know of a way for my to check if my cams are backwards.

and I am 100% positive that I got the marks lined up , The pins are lines up on top and the notches on the inside of the gears...
