replace 2G turbo direct fit cat?

For anyone trying to replace the cat on a california 1997 Eclipse Spyder GST, the Magnaflow 448243 (which several distributers claim will fit) does not fit this vehicle. The original, MR 239754, is now obsolete (called 2 dealers). Have not found a direct fit replacement, but thought i should let anyone else know that this part doesn't fit. Note if you go to magnaflow, and do the part search, this is not available, but if you go to the part to see if the cat fits (EFN), it says it does. After speaking with Magnaflow, they said that even if the efn matches, the cat doesn't necessarily fit will fit the vehicle (stupid, yes?). Anyhow, hopefully, this helps someone else...

i have a california (yeah. i know it my fault) stock 1997 eclipse spyder gst with what looks like a failed cat. does anyone know where to find a direct fit replacement? magna flow does not make one. thanks for any input

If you mean direct fit as in with the factory flanges already welded to it so that it jist bolts right up then you are going to be dissapointed. You won't find one nobody makes them. Here in Cali the last time I replaced my cat I used the magna flow piece and cut the flanges off the factory cat and welded them onto the magna flow one. I believe they are the oby manufacturer that makes a CARB legal cat for our cars.

Have a muffler shop weld one in, bam direct fit.
