Repairing Rad Support/Front Cross Member

Well when removing my front motor mount cross member, the 2 front mounts into the rad support tore right out leaving a nice big gaping hole. Lets here it for rust

So now I need to get this fixed as I don't want to be beating on my car with 3 out of 4 mounts in place. So here is my idea for repairing it (only a temp fix for now, I will replace the complete rad support when I do body work next year).

Take a piece of 1/8" steel plate, weld 2 bolts and washers to this. Put this up into the hole (cleaning away to good metal) and then welding it into place. Then I can bolt my cross member back up using new bolts and my existing bushings.

Thats exactly what i did to my spyder that had the same problem.

i measured the bar + cut it to fit, then drilled 2 holes through it for the crossmember bolts, welded nuts to it, and welded it to the lower radiator support.

Its been holding now for a few months, and ~5000 miles with no problems at all.

the big thing is take your time cleaning up all the rust/paint it when done. i had plans on buying a new front radiator support, but i dont think im going to as this seems to be a perfect solution, and in these areas where rust owns cars - i figure it will last longer
