Removing the spoiler from 97 Talon?

I'm thinking about taking the spoiler off of my '97 Eagle Talon TSi as I think it would make it look sharp. I'm concerned about there being holes in the hatchback, though, as the spoiler incorporates the third brake light so there must be wires running to it. Would there be a big, ugly rectangular hole because of this? I wouldn't want to have to deal with that. Is keeping it on the best idea?
