I recently aquired a Evo III motor, it has ArP head studs and it looks like it needs a special tool to remove them, can anyone shed any light on this and tell me if i need to purchase a special tool and possisbly where.

thanks

the thing is that i have never seen unless this is mitsubishi specific, is it looks like a allen head screw in the middle of the bolt, i'll grab my tools from my brothers truck when he gets here see if that 12mm works.

thanks

Cool got it, pulling the head off tomarrow and then the bottom end comes out for a fresh rebuild:thumb:

So is the allen bolt a "cap" over the head steads??

Studs are installed into the block with either a torx bit or with an allen bit. From that point the head is installed over the studs and then tightened down with the supplied nuts. You do not have to remove the studs in order to remove the head.

Sounds great, I got to go buy tools now :\ What about timing belt? Just cut it off or line it all up first? I got a dead battery and fuel rail is off. I can crank it after install to get things line up right?

I advise don't cut the belt line everything up first, you don't have to start the car, pull the crank pulley off, and everything then stick a socket I believe it's like a 17mm socket and start turning till everything is lined up at tdc, if you cut the belt it's harder when reinstalling to get everything tdc.
