Removing Head: Head Stud Question

I'm in the process of removing the head on my 1G (AWD 2.0L Turbo) . I was removing it by following the directions in my Haynes manual, and in order to remove the head it says you have to take the head studs off using a 13mm allen head socket. I do not have a 13mm allen head socket, so I went out to buy one, but no one seems to carry them (checked 4 different places).

Does anyone know where I can get a 13mm allen head socket, or if they even make them?

I bought a 40pc Allen/Hex set from Harbor Freight for like $10.00 a few months back. Maybe that could work for you.

I agree go to harbor freight they got just about every tool for very very cheap!

Nope, checked there, they don't carry them, atleast not at my local one.

I bought a 40pc Allen/Hex set from Harbor Freight for like $10.00 a few months back. Maybe that could work for you.

Were they Hex/Allen headed sockets?

The kit I have has socketed and studded. It's a little red plastic carrying case that they come in. You are sure to find almost anything you will need at Harbor Freight. Note though that a lot of tools at Harbor Freight are cheap made tools and can bread easily with the wrong amount of torque but in the end they come in handy when you have a budget and need tools _right now_ .

I guess Haynes messed up then. Thanks . I don't have a 10mm allen studded socket anyways, but atleast I know they make them .

I don't know, Haynes says it's 13mm, but I've found a couple flaws in my Haynes manual for my Neon, so I don't know how trustworthy they are. Ohwell, I'll give a 10mm a try.

Haha, I actually held a 10mm in my hand at the one part store, I never realized exactly how close I was to the part I needed .

I have a brake caliper tool kit that includes that size of allen.
