Removing exhaust tip?

The car had a fart can installed by previous ownder
Anyways when I got the car I noticed the car was loud as hell so I looked under car and saw the pipe going to the fart can was rusted clean off.
Right above the rear axle it was broke so I took it off and been driving with just a open pipe since. The car has the stock cat and a 3" resonator installed then just straight pipe.
So i was wondering if it even matters if the fart can is on there?

Well, if the fart can was rusted completely off, then it shouldn't matter. There was a major leak to begin with. It should be okay, if you can withstand the noise

There's no need for the fart can, but for safety reasons the exhaust should exit the chassis at some point. I would get a stockish muffler from an auto parts store, mount it in the stock location, and connect it using their steel flexible exhaust hose. It'll work until you can get a shop to weld on a new one or until you find a more tasteful sounding catback exhaust.

An axle-back system would work if the flange is still left back there where the muffler bolted.
