Removing driver side axle?

I've been trying for two days to get the driver side axle out of the hub the nut isn't on anymore the darn axle is stuck there tho? any ideas on how i can get it out? (I have tried some penetrate spray and have let it soaked)

Ehh, I assume you wheel bearing is shot? If so your looking at two maybe three options.

1. Take axle to machine shop, get them to press it out (I tried this and failed).

2. Take axle to machine shop, get them to cut the hub off the axle (making sure to not damage the axle). Next buy a new/used hub. This is how I did it.

3. Buy a new hub and axle if none of the above works. I could not find a remanufatured axle and a new would have cost $800.

put the nut back on just a few threads in.
and smack it w/ a sledge hammer.
add a lil heet the hub is need' be

PB blaster, Propan Torch, Sledge Hammer, in that order.

Air compressor and impact hammer.

And when all that other crap fails, revert back to post 2. I had to take it to a machine shop. I tried a torch, PB, hammer, all that just ended up mushrooming the end of the axle. my splines on the hub had been smashed, and the axle forced in at some point, so i had to file them back to straight before i put the new axle in. good luck to you. cost me $60 to get a machine shop to do it. oh well.

None of the above worked (didn't try the machine shop) I just pulled the axle out of the tranny and was done with it. Only thing was it made getting the axle back in a lil harder than normal. I got some gift cards to a auto part store so I'll be replacing thay side sometime here in the near future.

Here's a trick if your really desperate and broke (don't ask!). Loosen the big nut on the end a couple of threads, then reinstall the pin. Drive around the block. Jack it up and see if its loose. Repeat as necesary. It will work its way loose eventually, but like I said, its only for the desperate and broke. Do it at your own risk.
