Removing Aircan.....

ok i read the free mods list and saw the hacking the air can mod. now i don't have a saw so i just removed the whole thing and used the 3 clips to hold in the filter. i also made a braket to hold the MAF in place. is this ok or do I need to put the aircan back on?

what about those of us who cant take their aircan off because the bolts keep getting stripped.... im even using the right size screwdriver, the bolts are just like rusted in....

Luckily all the bolts holding my aircan in where already off, all i had to do was loosen the clamp on the intake tube and take the upper intercooler pipe braket off the air can. The thing that took the longest was making the new brakets to hold the MAF from flopping around. sounds cool when the turbo spools now

yea, i would like to remove the silencer and the aircan.....and i have no idea how im going to install my new intake after i buy it.... cuz this thing just wont come off, maybe ill hacksaw it...hehehehe.....

Hey what's up man!
Well, you can leave it like that but personally, I would modify the air can, specially if you have a K&N filter. Why do I say this, well, the K&N has a foam gasket on the top side of the lip where the three clips grab on to. With time, these clips will start to damage the gasket and eventually tear it off. I believe that the temperatureunder the hood plays a major roll on drying out the sealant or glue that keeps the gasket in place.
I speak for personal experience. I don't know if it has happend to others but it did to me.
