2g please help , aircan ? under battery.?

My car is gutted and I,m going thru the engine bay checkin stuff out. Thats when i cam across some canister looking like thing that has 2 nipples and only one hose coming out.Its under battery and i'm wondering what the hell is this thing .? Can i remove it clean clutter ? Well first off what is it ? anyone know ? please help andy input on what this is well be greatly appreciated . Oh and its the 95 tsi awd , auto.

That can is for emission, you can remove it if you want, There is something on vfaq I believe with all the emissions related stuff that you can toss.

I know ive been going crazy searcking everywhere (v###,1001 answered ?'s, etc...) and nothing. If anyone has anymore info or a link please help , thanks. Guess my next stop is back to vfaq. thanks lunch-box.

Has anyone performed this mod and remonve this thing ?
In the diagram it shows that you remove the canister along with everything connected to it , is that right? the diagram is good but shopuld have a little more verbal explanation for the newbies , you know.

It eliminates your emissions related items, and makes the engine bay a lot cleaner.. It gets rid of the mess up vacuum hoses under the hood. However, if you have emissions in your state, you may not pass after performing the elimination.
