Took out my cooling system, snd wondering what all i can do to my engine while it is in car...i would like to know all i can take out, without pulling the engine out, since a mount seems to be in the way of the timing belt, or chain, whichever it is. I drained all the antifreeze of coure and wondering where i can dispose of it... Thanks for any help!

Sorry, i forgot to say why i want to take it apart... well, engine died, and i dont have an engine hoist... so i want to do as much as i can IN CAR before i try and find someone i know with a hoist...

Well, are you having head issues or you having to pull the whole thing. Im sorry I am not very familiar with the NTs, but if all the mounts are the same. Then you can remove that mount you are speaking of with no worries. Also, call some of your part stores. Some of then recycle fluids. Im not really sure what your question is. Are you asking what kind of mods you can do or what you can safely remove yourself while waiting on a hoist?

Wendy

My question is what can i safely remove while waiting on a hoist... while i was waiting for an answer, i removed the exhaust manifold and A/C condensor, im not planning on hooking the ac back up, will i be able to put my radiatior back in without the condensor?sor will i need a bigger radiator to make up for that space. Again, thanks for any help!

No you wont need to replace your radiatior. It will go back in just fine. Also I dont know what your plans are with the car, but you can take out your pwr steering and what not while your at it. Timing belt pullys etc. can also come off.

just a couple of things... im planning on making it a car i can drive on the road, but i might race it on the track... when i drop a 4g63 in, i have no power steering already. so you said i could probably remove the top mount without a problem? i just want to find out what i can what is wrong with the car, it just died... so i cant really find any sympoms... so im just going to start taking it apart. and maybe rebuild it for fun and use it as a "backup" engine, when i get the 4g63 in...

thats great news, im suspecting i have a blown head gasket... just because this engine ran horribly, and had white smoke....but near its end, it had black... yeah, im guessing bad hg, even if its not, im doing a rebuild... so replacing it anyway... where would all the mounts be, theres the one in question, where are the other 3, just to make sure that it doesnt fall over...

forgot to say how much mileage the engine has! it has about 200,300 miles on it... and it hasnt been rebuilt yet... i think its about time....

i think i have all those, ill check it out tomorrow, its too dark now... plus, my hands have gotten enough crap on them for today. Thanks for the help!

Haha, look at all the crap... and that engine compartment... its even more empty than it was with everything!

LOL it looks as if you had antifeeze in ur exhaust system ;x... my 1.8L has 211k on it but a old woman had it, then this girl had it for a bit and both took care of the engine so ..knock on wood LOL but i wanna replace my motor with a 2.0 turbo so let me on some things to know when ur gona get ur 2.0 in gl man :thumb:

Why are you rebuilding this motor when you have plans of putting in a 4G63. Once you buy all the parts to rebuild this motor you will be at or close to the price of a healthy 6 bolt. Plus a lot of time spent rebuilding a motor that you plan on replacing any way. Plus the fact that the way things go if you don't do it now you probably won't get around to it for a while.
I still can't beleive you are digging into it before figuring out what is wrong. It is usually much easier when it's all in one piece. I am going to laugh if it's fuel injectors, ECU, sensor, or something unrelated. :D

no there wasnt antifreeze in the exhaust... i just made a mess... :| so whoops... need to clean it up, with lots and lots of water....

im tearing it apart to learn... i could use the experience, im only 15 and a sophomore in high school. and i want to rebuild it for fun, over a long period of time...and then sell it, or use it as a backup, cause well, yeah, shit happens!
