OK, So I am one of the lucky persons to have bought a AFC NEO which now doesn't work on DSMs. So I remove the AFC Neo reconnect my airflow wire and remove my 550's and leave the walbro 255 in.

Now I have a 6bolt swap and a super FMIC with a EvoIIIBig16G fully ported with 3" full turbo back exhuast.

I also have a EBC.

Now I know I have no fuel control so I have the boost on low. Now here comes my questions.

1. Should my CAS on my 6bolt swap be 100% advanced?

2. Should I not be able to run more then 10-12psi with stock injectors and 255pump?

3. Car runs smooth, flys to 80 but not pulls hard it wants more boost why can't I run 18psi?

4. Could boost leaks that I can't fix near my TB be causing this?

.... More boost runs good till bout 3500-4k and it pops like fuel cut? maybe my ported Big16g overflowing the MAS at that low of a boost?

.... And a side note, called pulled like a beast on 24psi on my old SAFC-2 that I had before it got robbed. I know the car aint driving right and the AFC Neo got me some power but I could only run 18psi smoothly on the crappy thing.

I also dont have a afpr yet.

THANKS,

KENDEL

Why doesn't your Neo work on your car? Is the unit faulty? I have one that I was using that worked fine on a friend's car and mine. Never had a problem once. Are you sure it's not your Neo unit that is faulty?

Also, definitely invest in a AFPR. It sounds like you're "popping" is coming from the car being far too rich. Do you have any sort of wideband? Most likely, that pump is running rampant over the stock FPR and you're getting way too much fuel. Change the pump out or put a FPR on there to keep the 255 in check, or else you're going to continue havnig this problem.

If you're Neo is faulty, and you're interested in another one, I have one for really cheap. I'd bet money all of your problems stem from the stock FPR and the 255 overflowing it. The only reason you were able to run a little bit with the aid of an AFC was the ability to scale back the injectors and thus regulate the amount of fuel your engine saw. I would guess that you had your fuel trims down into the floor though?

From what I know so far, there is no way to ground the timing in a 2gb (97-99) while using a 6-bolt and 1g CAS. The only method to ground out the timing so that you can successfully adjust it 5*BTDC is to use a program like DSMLink or another logging software that will allow you to electronically ground out the timing. Otherwise, if you plug up a timing light and go to tweaking the CAS, you'll see the notch on the crank pulley 'skipping around', from the ECU automaticlaly adjusting timing. You'll never be able to get it set accurately. 95-96 (2ga) DSM's, I believe, still had the grounding circuit on the back of the firewall, but 2gb's do not.

I would say set it as close to the middle until you can get an efficient way to ground the timing and do it properly.

I agree with mach4g63t you are running to rich, Also there are numberous topics about the Safc Neo. When you search you will see that there is certain models that are bad. Also make sure you don't bump.

The AFC Neo has a recall/buyback or reprogram option from Apexi. They came clean about the AFC NEO Not making smooth/consistent hz signal output or something along those lines. I will get the SAFC-2 or DSMLink whichever I can afford. I'm getting $300 from Apexi for my NEO I am sending back.

Regardless, you're still going to need to invest in a AFPR first. That will give you more tuning ability/driving ability before you get any second hand tuning software.

Got the AFPR on its way as of a today. SAFC-II on its way also. I got my refund from Apexi a few days ago. It took them this long.. Since I started this post. They took forever with paperwork and didn't get 2 of my faxes.
