I recently installed a Red on my car along with a full 3" exhaust and external wastegate routed back into the downpipe. I boost leak tested the car and found no major leaks. Compression was 155-160 across the engine (stock 90 block) and the head was just recently freshened. Relevenant engine mods are 255lph, afpr, 550s (fp set at 40 with hose connected), fmic, hks ssqv

Boost is set at 22lbs, and the wideband shows high 10s on a/f across all gears. Yes 550s are a bit small but they've been working. IDC has been about 95%-105%, 18-19 degrees advance with 3 degrees base.

The first 2 weeks the car ran great. It pulled very strong and until I got to a dragstrip, held its own against 400whp cars from a roll. Once when I was testing on the street the car wouldn't go into 4th and I overrevved it. It fried the ECU. I swapped in a 91 ecu and swapped pins 6 & 14 around as well.

Ever sense then I've had issues. The car is down on power (compression was still the same afterwards). As well as now when I hit full boost in 3rd (it feels like) the ignition will basically shut off. I went to the track and every pass it did this. Twice when I hit 3rd gear and once when I was free-revving it to launch.

It will barely want to move or make boost, but it won't die. If I shut the car off and let it sit for 5-10 mins it'll clear out. It'll drive fine until you go WOT again. It doesn't feel like fuel cut as it doesn't clear until the car is off and sits for awhile.

I've swapped in two different ecus, no change. As well as new plug wires. Gapping the plugs from .026 to .020 didn't help. Coil pack & transistor tested fine. Any thoughts?

That's not fine, running the injectors that hard could easily burn them out is short order.

I see that you'd experienced this at free rev (e.g. no load), could you have sucked in oil/water or backfired thru the intake and damaged the MAF?

New injectors are on the way, I just keep the boost down to prevent really high IDC.

Thanks for the link on MAFT fuel cut. I'm not sure how I could suck in oil/water when I free-revved it. I wasn't running a filter at the time and there are the valve cover line is vented.

I'll try the maf off our ls1 car and see if it changes. I could see it being that.
