I have to cars with auto transmissions. One has 65k on it and the other has 175k on it. Both are shifting fine. What maintenance on them? Any at experts please any info on this would be greatly appreciated. I have been told not to touch them as Channing the fluid and filter now will destroy them where as far as I know it has never been done.

Fluid and filter every 15 - 30k miles. Look in the owners manual, it gives you the fluid change intervals.
An upgraded trans cooler also helps extend the life of the trans.

I would go by the manual but one has 65k and the other has 175k miles on it. I was told by 2 different people to different things on servicing them and don't know which way to go. One told me to just change the fluid and filter and the other said since I don't know if the fluid and filters have ever been changed before not to touch them. And trans experts your expertise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THE PERSON THAT TOLD YOU NOT TO CHANGE THE FLUID!
That person does not know what he is talking about. He's probably the same guy that says switching to synthetic motor oil casuses leaks, so never change the oil again.

If you believe thefilter and fuid have never been changed, that should be the FIRST item on your agenda. Stick to the manual.
