We get asked a lot if we can rebuild these and the answer is "not really" since Garrett will not sell its internal parts to anyone even it's largest North American distributor we can not truly rebuild them. If someone claims they can they will be using junk EBAY parts that aren't worth the package they're shipped in.
If the inner and outer bearing races are ok we can usually save the turbo. This might mean a new bearing housing, retainers, gas control rings, or turbine wheel but it's still cheaper than a new CHRA.
So beware these knocks offs or companies saying they can rebuild them, because rest assured it won't be Garrett OEM parts going back in.
