rebuilding an ISC

hi guys,

I've decided to try and rebuild an ISC and perhaps make a VFAQ if it is successful. the only problem is....I can't open the beast up =\

seems to be held in by rings or something. does anyone know how to rip this thing apart without destroying the housing?

1990 ISC's are different then the rest. You can't just unscrew the tops and pop em apart like 91 and above ones. I've never seen anyone rebuild a 90 style one, i don't think it can be done at our level of maintenance.

yes but that will not work with a 1990 ISC. 91 and up ISC's open up with the removal of a couple screws. 90's do not open like that. i believe they are kinda crushed together, like how the 1g bov steel cap part can't just be removed, its sinched on there. also 90's don't have the connector right on the ISC, it has a wire bundle coming off it that has a lil electrical connector plug on it. It's just a different design and I have never seen one repaired at our level of maintenance. Maybe some shops can repair one, but not repairable on our level.
