Rebuilding an auto?

So I was planning on doing a 5 speed swap, but I lost contact with the guy that had all the parts. I'm now thinking on selling the GST after the summer so I'm considering just throwing another auto in there and have it done a lot faster. What should I do? How much does it usually cost to get an auto rebuilt? What if I was thinking of keeping the car how much could I get a decent auto for that could hold some power?
