hey fellas, sorryi dont like posting but searching didnt really help me alot so here she goes. recently i fell into a parts car and have a couple of extra T25's, well im selling one to my buddy with my stock smic but im keeping the other one to replace my stock one for now. one problem is that the compressor wheel is shot, so id figure id upgrade and port the turbo while i was at it so what wheel/wheels should i look at and how much to port? i will also be porting my stock exhaust mani and i have a 3in downpipe and 3 inch catback with no cats. any help would be appreciated.thanks

I don't know how much for a rebuild/new center cartridge, but I'm guessing it's more expensive than a used one...and for porting, just do it yourself. All you need is a die grinder and carbide bits...check vfaq for detailed instructions.

i want to upgrade the compressor wheel, which ones would fit in the housing(which will be ported)

so i can put a t-28 compressor wheel in a t-25 housing and get respectable gains(with porting of course)?

When a T25 is converted to a T28, the entire CHRA is replaced and the housings are modified. I don't know that anyone here has done this themselves but Forced Performance will do it for you with a decent price advantage over the cost of a new T28.

$599 for the T25 > Big T28 upgrade - http://linux.forcedperformance.net/...oduct_Code=TUDSMBig28&Category_Code=DSM-Turbo

$819 for a new Big T28 - http://linux.forcedperformance.net/...uct_Code=NTDSMFPBIG28&Category_Code=DSM-Turbo

You can port your mani and turbine inlet/outlet, but I don't think you should try to modify the compressor inducer or turbine exducer contours unless you have access to a CNC lathe/mill and the proper contours for the wheels you want to use. Your best solution may be to trade in your T25 to FP for a B28 as others have already mentioned, but that presumes that this is the type of turbo you want.

If you want any info about porting the 2g mani or B28 turbine housing, I did this a month ago, so just ask.

Good luck!

And this is probably not what you want to hear, but for $100 more than the T25 > Big T28 upgrade you can get all this for $699.

yeah, see i really wasnt planning on spending that much at all on the turbo b/c all i really want to do is use the car as my daily and be able to go to the track and pull 13's. i have a MASTER POWER T70 sitting in my garage but im building up my rotary (13b)for that turbo so i just wanted a cheap upgrade for that extra T25 that i have. i REALLY dont wanna spend $500 on upgrading the turbo when i can use it for the fuel system. thanks for the information, maybe later down the road when i some money free. for now ill probably just port it.
