Hey fellow DSMTuners!

I just baught a 1990 GSX and I want to rebuild it. So I'm looking at Slowboy Racings rebuild kit and don't understand the numbers. Any help would be...well helpful

Site is http://www.slowboyracing.com/shop.php?sid=&cat=47
What should the Rod Bearing, Bore, and Main Bearing.

Thanks for the help guys...Time to go pull the motor:)

If you are not boring anything over. Getting their standard rebuild kit should work. They do ask you to specify if you are boring it over or just standard. Unless I am reading your question wrong. Once you have the motor out you will be able to see what condition your cylinders are in. If they need to be bored out then you will need to get a kit that is specific to how much you went over.

He is correct. Unless you have damaged cylinder walls that will need cleaned up you can stay with standard. If there is damage your machine shop will be able to tell you at what bore size it will clean up. As far as the bearing size this is for if you have a remaned cut crank. If you have a stock crank with nothing done to it then you will just need standard size bearings. Hope this helps. :thumb:

Im doing the same thing but i have the motor out and a sort of dif question......SB has a stupid piston comp ratio so i dont want to go with them cause they cant change it. Now i was looking at these people......

Now is all these little parts needed like it states camshafts and lifters?HA for such a cheap price i doubt they have that but ohh well.....But is new cam bearings and freeze plugs really needed. Does anyone know a site that is better for rebuild kits. I want a site that gives me a slowboy like rebuild kit with 2g pistons ratio. These people so far are the only ones who say they can deleiver that.

Well i dont know man. Do i? i have 186XX on this engine. How many miles really decides pistons. If milage dosent matter to much and you can just throw on a set of rings and be all set and not worry about the actual body. Other then the valves hitting it kind of deal then id say id be all set. Cause i want these to last. Id like 50k out of the motor after a rebuild and haveing 350hp daily. So if i can just rering the 2gs ill go with them from a friend for 40 bucks. But if milage plays a big part ill go new cause his has 100k on them and i dont want to have to worry about pistons when im done with this.

How sure are you that you only want 350hp? Is there any chance you'd want more? If not, I'd suggest getting his pistons, and getting them mounted on the rods you have. Any competant machine shop can do this. Just print these instructions and give to them: 2g pistons on 1g rods. Other than that, just getting everything thoroughly cleaned and refreshed with new gaskets would be what your engine has waited 186,xxx for!

Well, my motor is just about out...I didn't have much time to work on it, seems like everyone wants a piece of me and not want me to work on MY car damnit ><

What compression ratio? 8.5:1 is to high and 7.5:1 is to low I read on the faq...so like 8:1 is perfect eh?
Also, when I DID get to work on my car I noticed there is a tooth missing off the timing gear off the crankshaft... I've looked at slowboy but they don't have one... you guys think I'd have to buy a new crank to get it or do you guys know of anyone that sells them?

Well.....i want to build my motor capible of holding 450 with the right mods. Then when i go to the dyno put out 425hp on a slip then keep it 350 daily but allow 350-400 track. Weird numbers i know. Someone said BB 50 trim would be better and i know this but i dont know how many extra things it takes to get this to fit. Thats why i like the e3 16g cause its a nice quick bolt on deal.Plus the evo only can put out 380 and yes i know people have gone more but i dont want to replace a brand new turbo for tryen to get 400+ outa it.

As for big pimpen(smart name man hahaha) there is a company at the top of this site that has there add run back and forth. It all depends on when come to it. Its the advertising at the very top right corner. It will say race motors, heads, cranks so on. They have nasty racing cranks but pricey kind of. Or you can get one off the classifieds since you have proven yourself and can go there.

Also im grounded for going 1400 miles on a road trip and not telling anyone so i have all the time in the world my friend. Well not that school started not as much but still time non the less.
