2G Rebuild journey from Sunny San Diego. Possible rod bearing damage.

I've had this car for over a decade, and we been through it all, timing chain, valve, head, etc, everything you get into when you are broke and beating your daily, but now I want to rebuild this 2g to make it a fun weekend warrior. Last time it ran, was after fixing the water pump, that basically blew while running, fixed that planning to take the car to smog check and because it had a new battery I had to drive it for about 100 miles to avoid the smog check telling me to do so, around mile 80 the oil light came on, and before i could get off the freeway, car loss power and a knocking sound started, that was over a yer ago, and now I am able to start working on it again.

I want to do as much work as possible my self, this car has great sentimental value. Hopefully I can get some good tips here any are welcome, or any extra hands to help in Southern CA, I can tow the car to location if someone feels like help working on an old 98.

Pull it out and inspect the damage and throw up some pictures. You will have to have any spun rods resized at a machine shop and the crank checked and probably needs cut also.

Oh this has been an decade long ongoing project, patience is abundant.

I think I am going to start by checking the rod bearings from the bottom while they are in, seems the most likely candidate.
