, no i'm not using that. It came off the car ahhaa. I just wasn't sure if mine was vented or not, because I need to know when getting new rotors.

It's a rotor people! Hit it with a wire brush if you want it to shine, get it cut(resurfaced) and you're good to go! Or get a new on eand it will look like that a year later. There's many ways to "vent" a rotor, it's all about removing heat/preventing warping. Rotors, break pads, calipers, and fluid is what makes up this system.

Just remember, you must NOT confuse your "Break Pads" with your "Brake Pads". Two totally different parts doing totally different jobs.

Yea you'll have rust when a piece like that comes from a junk yard , especially in Ohio, the bottom line here is how many of you AWD cars have the vented rear discs?...96 and on all had solid rear discs....the 95's ( pretty sure) were the only ones that came with rear discs vented...like said with the picture...thats good information to know when doing brakes

I would say that there are less then 1000 rear vented rotor 2g gsx cars. I have a very early 95 with e-prom cpu and I have solid rear rotors.

Less than 1000? Wow. Yeah I have the e-prom too. Build date on my car was June of '94.

Ok, now knowing their are not many vented rear discs made for 2nd gen cars AWD, when you were doing your rear brakes and you had solid rotors, would it be worth it to be asking for 95 vented rear rotors?....

It's usually 85/15 for a front wheel drive based car.

Somewhere, there's a story about how it happened. It's a story, so I don't know the truth in it, but it had something to do with sharing parts off the Stealth/3000GT product line, and I forget if it was just a mistake or an upgrade that wound up not being needed. But of course, you can never find this stuff when you need it.

You'd think they'd put the vented rotors in the front rather than the back..since the front takes most of the abuse.

I think I might just have one of the first 2G DSMs...don't quote me on this one I'll have to check tomorrow but the man. date was Jan. 94? could be June..not sure.

OK let me get this one I had a HELL of a time finding rear parts for my car.

My car is a 95 and my parts car as well. My car had the solid rear rotors and I converted it to the vented ones cuz they looked better beefier and nicer. What a PITA to find rear rotors. I would guess my setup is better then the solid rotor but its hard to get parts for. Why would they go from a vented rotor to a solid one? I had to swap calipers,brackets,pads,rotors.

Well, for the vented rotors, i found them at NAPA here in Ohio, plus my friend(who posted the picture on this thread), can get factory parts anytime he wants from Chrysler(talon) such as the bracket and calipers(and ye athey might be pricey...)....and im sure he could get rotors too if need be...
