okay so heres the deal, as many of you may know the center piece is USELESS! i have two of these! one is in the smoked euro style and the other the color of my car with shaved keyhole, regardless im thinking of illuminating the center piece with LED strips all around the outside and a light up mitsu symbol in the middle but i am not sure if i should follow through on this idea or not? anyone out there done something like this or have this idea???

AZDave has made LED (custom boards not strips) tail lights with the center section lighting up as a brake light.
To get it to light up correctly he had to add depth to the housing.

I too am making my center section light up as brake and markers with LEDs (custom made boards not strips) and have to make the housing deeper. You can see my project here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/app...lighting-96-talon-tsi-awd-led-conversion.html

I've seen people do what you are talking about and it just looks off to me.

this is what i have done to mine. it was more then i most likely needed to do but it works well and looks great at night.

what i did was pry the outer cover away carefully as its a pain in the ass with out breaking it then i cleaned all the silver off on the inside then made letters that i was going to use stick them down then spray aluminum over it again to re-new the paint and peeled the letters off.

then i put aluminum foil over the black base and put 2x neons right behind the lettering then wired them up to the rear side lights so they turn on when my lights go on. i think led plates or strips would of worked better and brighter but im happy for now with my product.

i will do another when im board and want another thing to mess around with haha

no doubt, it definately looks nice! i have the smoked euro Led taillights so i dont be able toi illuminate the "eclipse" lettering because i dont have it, but i do want to put some custom lights in there! ide opt for some kinda blue lights that only come on with brakes, but ther POLICE mess with me enough!

Stick with red and make something with led strips and be inventive
