Get some vinyl sticker.
Or if you paint it, just use a few heavy coats of night shades.

Don't Do that! It would risk massive runs.

However I'm not understanding why you need to ask about this... go to Autozone, get some sand paper or a sanding sponge, sand it down, then paint over it with gloss black and then clear coat. Problem solved. Don't put massive coats on it. Do a couple small coats of just misting the paint on, allow like 10 minutes to dry between coats, if you can leave in sun, leave the can to be hot. It helps adhesion in the paint. Then keep going over it till its a good layer. I would clear coat it sitting down on a table. Not right side up, just lay it down on a table or something like that. that way you have less chance of run. Light coats but not soo light that its just showing up as a matte. but not soo deep that its cluttered up. You'll know if you clear coat too much. So just be clean and careful and you cannot go wrong!

Allow like 24 hours to cure.

VHT is good for shading but 20 bucks a can, what the hell are you thinking?

You mean to physically take it off?

It unbolts from the inside. Take off the plastic pieces an it will be bolted on right there with 10mm (i think) nuts.

I sprayed mine with nite shades and they came out great. Just take your time and u wont get any runs.

I had my paint matched using my gas lid... Sanded and shot a primer that would help stick paint to plastic and airbrushed the tail light. Paint and clear all with air brush then finally wet sanded and buffed after a week.

Just a heads up with that center interior piece in your trunk. Be extremely careful when removing it. They crack very easily. There are two white clips that attach to a threaded stud on the inside of the sheet metal of the trunk on both sides near the bottom of the panel. Pull them straight out (pull it towards the front) and a few of those small metal clips fond on many other interior pieces. then on the top, there are two more of those white clips at both sides of the top part of the interior panel where it wraps around. There is also a few of the small metal clips near the center of the panel. Pull up on the panel from the bottom of the panel and it should pop out without cracking. Also if you can find something wide and flat like a putty knife to help pry up on the white clips from the inside, that helps prevent cracking too.

Good luck. :thumb:

@$20 a can. Vs 12 bucks for a Can of Gloss black and Clear Coat to do it right! ....

Hmm, 12, vs 20.... What to do...

Rustoleum sells tint paint just like NiteShade but it goes on darker for 12 bucks a can at any AutoZone. If you want to tint the tail light. But he mentioned painting it black, not tinting. Its kinda stupid to use VHT or any tint to paint a tail light black, its a waste of money. Why not just shoot exhaust smoke at the tail light to smoke it instead! LOL.
