rear foglight ?

Hi,
I'm looking to buy a 2G GST and I live in a country where we have a lot of regulations about cars. I've found out almost everything I need to know about the 2G, except one thing : Does this car have a rear or tail foglight ? ( I don't know the exact english term for it; should be a very bright light on one side of the taillights which only comes on when you've pushed a special button...)

White lights on the back of the car that turn on when you engage reverse.

i think he means those weird little lights like a skyline has down by the liscence plate.one is red and the other is white.

I know many newer cars have just what he said, a rear foglight on the bumper.
Its 2 red lights that are made to pierce the fog. We don't have those though.


This pict show them, the two red lights on the bumper are not on UNLESS the owner flips the switch to the setting that turns on not only the front foglights but these too.

he's right, it's these 2 little thingies made to pierce the fog ( are they called rear foglights ? )...the skyline also has one the other is the reverse light...

Well, I'll have to make something do then, can't be too hard, after all the euro-spec taillight has one too...

I frikken HATE those rear fog lights. Some of them are bright as hell, and you can't even look straight ahead when behind them. Not trying to go off topic here, but I hate so many things about driving, drivers, and cars here in Italy, rear fog lights being one of them. Can't wait to get back to the US where it's normal (normal meaning 26" wheels on Escalades and 5'1" women driving gigantic lifted trucks ) But anyways, no Eclipses don't have the rear fog light, although I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to wire one in, even into the stock reverse light.

I haven't driven a car to Germany, but I've ridden my motorcycle up there with friends a few times. Nice country, nice people......nice.

Try a run up the Central Valley in November. You'll wish more cars had rear fogs.... not that anyone here could figure out how to use them.

Do the European DSM taillights have a provision for them? I know it's fairly common for there to be an unused segment in the taillight package meant for them on Volvos, BMWs, VWs and even Hondas, but I don't know if DSMs are in that group.

I've thought of a red lens in the left reversing lens, and a switch. It'd be a good use of the Mystery Space below the defogger button.
Otherwise, perhaps a Hella unit near the exhaust.

so it is a reverse light on the skyline,i always assumed the reason one was white was due to some wacky law.

id imagine it would be dead simple to wire one up,would import laws allow the fitment of the rear foglight or are the powers that be dead set on them being factory equipped?

Shit, they rarely use front fogs there. Unless it's a clear night, then they are blaring in your mirror

I haven't seen the rear fogs, it's a good idea (having been through some NASTY fog), as long as they aren't blinding.

They don't have to be factory equipped, they just have to have one...so I'll have to rig something up when the time comes...

@Defiant : Yes they have one, as all cars in our country respectively europe are required to have one by law. Should be one of the compartements on the driver side, usually they are on that side...

I think I'll check with the stealership and see what they know about it, could be that they have a whacky idea on wiring one up...maybe I can get the original stock rear foglight button to work with it, make it look more factory or something


These rear foglights are really bright and are blinding when used in normal weather...actually it's against the law to use them if there's more than about 50 yards of sight.

notice how there are 2 lights lit on the right and only one on the left, when you hit the brakes the brake lights light up the same as the rear fog light.
