Rear drive shaft...

So what is the best way (easiest) for removing the back drive shaft for engine/trans removal?

Remove the transfer case and the driveshaft should just pull off. Use a coat hanger or something to support the driveshaft so it doesn't just hang.

i thought that was a no no.. should the drive shaft come out the other way?

Do it just as kahl23 described, and remember to use the vfaq.

Are you trying to remove the engine and tranny or just the driveshaft? I've never pulled the engine or trans with the T-case still attached. It's 5 bolts, not that hard to do, I'd say <30min max. Its also a good time to fix the yoke leak, if you have that problem.
