Rear Diffuser [Merged 4-9]

It might not be blatantly noticeable on a DD that only ever hits 65 on the freeway, but I personally don't underestimate the effect that kind of response can have.

This is one thing on which we agree 100%. I get quite annoyed when people post "who cares?!" in any and all threads on aero issues. We know that there are significant effects at speeds under 65 mph, in terms of both reducing drag and increasing down-force. If you want to find a nice beach into which to insert your head, go for it, but please do this without taking your keyboard with you.

On the flip side, however, I am equally wary (as well as weary) of any and all claims that are not backed up by empirical data. The naive, common-sense approach will often make a prediction that is exactly backwards. That's the lesson of the lift-gate debate, which happened to involve two guys from MIT. What sounds good in theory can also be dreadfully wrong.

No there isnt one made specifically for our cars, but there are a couple universal ones that would work. Bullet automotive sells the yaris brand (sp) they have in 3 different widths..

edit the brand is VARIS

Not that I have seen, let alone a diffuser of any material. Someone on here made one, but I've never seen a company sell one.

DSM's aren't cool enough (read: they don't drift) to have companies make stuff for our cars anymore. Pick up any ten import magazines from the last year. Look through the "New Products" page. You won't see anything for a DSM. Evo's, STi's, 350Z's, 240SX's, sure. But nothing really "new" for a DSM.

It's a real shame that nobody makes new parts for DSMs. Someone should take a AWD and convert it to RWD and make it big time in the drift world. LOL Then we might get some new parts. And it would be nice to see them back in the spotlight, (or even a part of it) even if their going sideways...

I have an idea for one and plan on making one alone with a front lip/ undertray but to many other projects have got in the way. Is'nt the wheel base to short for DSM's anyway for driftin? I know the toyota AE86's are popular drift cars and are alittle bit smaller that the DSM's. I was thinking about this the other night like taking a FWD car and placing the engine tranny in the rear sans mid engine DSM. I thought I remember seeing a picture of one somewhere before. That would be a sick RWD DSM!

Welcome to VARIS USA

Thats the company shouldnt be too hard to mount it but its pricey. If I could get a quality one for 4-500 Id buy one. They make one on ebay But the reviews said it was really thin.

I know that the majority of members on this site shun the use of bodykits, but I thought I heard of a company that made a rear diffuser that fit the Blitz rear end. Is this correct? And if so, where can I find one!?! That's all I would need to complete the look for my ride.

Wow that looks nice but a little exspensive. I'm already paranoid about sombody ripping my 300 dallar front lip off. I'm going to try to make one out of a thin peice of sheet metal and then paint it black. I'll post a DIY when i'm done.
Thanks guys,

Mike

Back from the dead I know, for those that are still interested I recently purchased an FRP rear diffuser paid 250 shipped I dont care to spend 500 for CF. Should be in by next week and of course pics will be posted. My goal is to look fast parked!!!yesss

kinda worried now....looked at the ass of the car and my muffler seems kinda low. I hope I wont have to cut out some of it. Might have to put my thermal on since its oval it might just sit higher.

Do you forsee any width issues by installing the RX7 diffuser under your 2g?
